Hair Heavy Metal Analysis
What does this analysis detect?
Hair analysis allows the detection of continuous exposure to heavy metals, as these are progressively incorporated into the hair through the bloodstream.
Unlike other matrices, the hair provides information from months ago, allowing the evaluation of chronic exposures. Thus, this analysis is aimed at detecting repeated or prolonged exposure. A one-time exposure may not be reflected if there has not been sufficient accumulation in the hair.

What metals can be analyzed?
Among the heavy metals we analyze are: Al (aluminum), As (arsenic), B (boron), Ba (barium), Ca (calcium), Cd (cadmium), Co (cobalt), Cr (chromium), Cu (copper), Fe (iron), Hg (mercury), Mn (manganese), Mo (molybdenum), Na (sodium), Ni (nickel), Pb (lead), Sb (antimony), Se (selenium), Si (silicon), Sn (tin), Ti (titanium), Tl (thallium) and Zn (zinc).
We also perform specific analysis of uranium and other elements upon request.
How is the analysis performed and what technique is used?
The sample is taken from the nape of the neck area. The hair grows approximately 1 cm per month, which makes it possible to evaluate exposure over time.
The analysis of heavy metals is performed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), a high-precision technique widely used in toxicological analysis.
This methodology allows the detection and quantification of elements in very low concentrations, guaranteeing reliable and reproducible results.
Interpretation of results
The results obtained reflect the presence and concentration of metals in the analyzed sample.
It is important to bear in mind that the clinical interpretation of the results should be performed by a healthcare professional, who will evaluate the data according to the medical context, the clinical history and possible symptoms of the patient.
